What is an End-dogger?

The short form answer is a piece of saw mill machinery that holds a log by the ends while it is being sawn.   Anyone who has done very much work on computer programs to maximize the recovery from a log will probably agree that they are the best way to saw logs if total recovery is your major concern.

The problem with them is that they are difficult to design and maintain.

The long form answer will have to wait until I have more time.
